On Thursday, November 1, 2007 Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center Foundation honored its Anna B. Lipsey Legacy Builders at a recognition brunch hosted by Anna Lipsey’s son, Richard Lipsey, and his wife, Susan.

The Anna B. Lipsey Legacy Builders membership is comprised of individuals who have made—or have notified Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center (MBPCC) of their intent to make—planned gifts through their estate plans; entered into life income arrangements with MBPCC; created endowed gifts for specific MBPCC programs; or made outright gifts of $10,000 or more to the endowment fund. Through their generous financial commitments, the Legacy Builders are helping to ensure the future for area cancer patients.

The event concluded with the presentation of a specially created token of appreciation for each of the Anna B. Lipsey Legacy Builders on behalf of the Foundation.

For more information about Anna B. Lipsey Legacy Builders and how you can become a member, please call (225) 215-1224 or email foundation@marybird.com. Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is a 501 (c) 3 organization.

*To honor the memory of Anna B. Lipsey, the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center Foundation Board of Directors changed the name of the Legacy Builders recognition society to the Anna B. Lipsey Legacy Builders.

Anna B. Lipsey was a visionary. In the 1960s, she saw the need for a local cancer center that would provide treatment for all. Working alongside founding chairman Dr. M.J. “Jack” Rathbone, Jr., her inspired leadership brought the community together to create Mary Bird Perkins. And 35 years later, the legacy she helped to create lives on through what is now a nationally recognized cancer center always on the forefront of cancer fighting research, technology, prevention, education and patient care.
