Capitol to Capitol Cyclists to Arrive in Baton Rouge August 11

1800 Mile Journey from U.S. Capitol to LA State Capitol Raises Cancer Awareness, Funds for MBPCC

Help Welcome Home Two Brothers Riding for Dad Battling Kidney Cancer

Four dedicated cyclists will soon conclude their 29-day journey which began on July 10, 2007 in Washington, D.C. to promote cancer awareness and raise funds for Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

The four riders, ages 20-25, began their journey by visiting with members of Louisiana’s congressional delegation in Washington D.C. where they worked to garner support for additional cancer research funding. They then began their 1,800 mile ride home to the Louisiana State Capitol building in Baton Rouge. Two of the four cyclists, nephews of the Volunteer Services Director for Mary Bird Perkins, are riding for their father who has battled renal carcinoma for two years.

Please join Mary Bird Perkins’ employees, along with the Center’s mobile medical clinic, the Early Bird, at the Louisiana State Capitol on Saturday, August 11 between noon and 2 p.m. to greet the riders after a long and successful campaign.
