MBPCC Medical Physicists Present at National Conference

The LSU-MBP Research Partnership Thriving

(Baton Rouge) Of the 70+ papers presented on TomoTherapy and cancer care at the 49th annual American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) conference held in Minneapolis July 22-26, 2007 nine papers were presented by LSU medical physics graduate students and members of MBP’s 10-member medical physics staff. The LSU-MBP medical physics program is driving significant cancer research and advances in the innovative use of equipment and technology.

Medical physics is a discipline vital to the provision of radiation therapy. The physicians and medical physicists create a dynamic treatment team with incredible ingenuity working together to improve patient outcomes. In just a few short years, this partnership has fueled tremendous growth, gaining remarkable academic ground and attracting students from all over the nation and beyond.
