Industry Executives Tour Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Gonzales

(Gonzales) -- Long time Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center volunteers JoAnn Hamilton of Rubicon and Jobie Templet of Air Products, co-hosted a tour for industry executives in the Ascension Parish area at the new Gonzales location of Mary Bird Perkins on October 29, 2009. The Center, in partnership with St. Elizabeth Hospital, opened its doors in February, 2009.

The tour of the facility attracted the attendance of 17 plant managers and high level executive staff from a variety of companies including: Alberty & Associates; Ineois; Air Products; Syngenta; Shell; Carter Chambers; BASF; Total Petrochemicals; Westlake; Lion-Copolymer; and Rubicon. At the event, Mary Bird Perkins' staff educated those on the tour about the capabilities of the technology at the Gonzales center, as well as the early detection outreach initiatives that have been made available in the community since the center opened in January, and early detection events planned for 2010. According to Carolyn A. Chassee, CFRE, vice president & chief development officer, Mary Bird Perkins, "Without the community's generosity, thoughtfulness and compassion, many of our outreach, education and research initiatives simply would not be possible. We thank these industry leaders for supporting Mary Bird Perkins in the fight against cancer."

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center has been fighting cancer for over 35 years with locations in Baton Rouge, Covington, Hammond, Houma and Gonzales.
