Volunteer

Mary Bird Perkins has an active corps of volunteers. They are engaged in a variety of roles that support an important part of our mission -- providing compassionate support to patients and their families. Our volunteers give their talent and energy to escorting patients or visitors throughout the building, assisting with wheelchairs or helping patients maneuver in and out of vehicles. They make coffee for waiting room visitors. They support our education efforts by keeping our library and research brochures up-to-date. Volunteers are involved in the C.A.R.E. Network as they offer cancer screening opportunities to citizens in southeast Louisiana. Volunteers also support our events, Tumor Registry and Accounting. They willingly respond to requests from patients and staff to ensure that each patient’s experience here is as comforting as possible.

All volunteers at Mary Bird Perkins have signed a confidentiality agreement. All information concerning your care at the Center will be held in strictest confidence. If you, as a patient, or an interested family member, would like to be a volunteer, complete an online volunteer application or you may call the director of volunteers at (225) 215-1230.
